Edited by: Vincent Athena on 21/06/2011 14:47:49 Somewhere I saw a dev say yes. All the clothes you were wearing when you undock are stored in the pod, and if the pod goes, so do your Aurum bought clothes.
Edit: The dev statement was made in response to a question "What will we wear when we dock at a station we have never been to and have no clothes at?" The reason CCP gave for them getting stored in the pod is so you got something to wear at whatever station you dock at next.

Originally by: Liva Daril Yep, all gone. As it¦s stored in a magic ziplock bag floating next to you in the pod-goo or something immersive like that.
Its stored in the pod's magic auto dresser that cleans and dresses you in just a few seconds while you dock. It works using nanites.

Originally by: Ingvar Angst So, basically, unless you're a station-based alt it's not worth every buying clothing.
Its no worse than losing your implants. Many are flying about with over a billion isk in their heads. The clothes will not cost anywhere near that much. On sisi clothes were going for 1 Aur each, which at present PLEX prices is 120,000 ISK. Players doing secondary selling of clothes will most likely charge 200,000 or so, resulting in a full get-up costing maybe 1 to 2 million. Compared to all the other costs of losing your pod, that trivial.

CCP; you really need to work on your wording of game mechanics to support immersion. For example, you could have explained it as:
"Yes when you are podded the clothes stored in the pod are destroyed. But along with a free new pod and free new alpha level clone, Pend Insurance gives you a free duplicate outfit."
Also I think part of the reason CCP did it this way is changing the avatar appearance is hard, and would slow down the process of getting podded. And in 0.0, you do not want that process slowed down.

Well, the machines in the pod knew what you were wearing along with what you were just thinking. After all they are right there in the pod.

Everyone is fine with "I'm podded, I die, wake up in station instantly ALL my abilities and skills (assuming an up to date clone) are intact," and the capsuleer's mind is not traumatized by the fact he just died. But you find it sooo ****ing far flung that a new set of clothing was impossible for the workers at the cloning facility to come up with?
The mind is sent more as data, where the clothing are physical objects.
The replacement pod and replacement alpha clone are also physical objects, and the workers come up with those.

They don't travel from the place you popped... they're at the cloning facilities. Pilot perks... everyone has access to pods and basic clones at a facility. The tricky part was sending the mind there intact.
The clothes are not traveling ether, they give you new clothes that look the same.

This. The rest is just trolling, and people mad cause they thought they had a new way to grief someone.
Get over it and move on.
The free replacement monocle idea sort of fails now that we know they cost 1.5 billion ISK.
CCP; I now think you need to make these go away upon podding. Also, you need to save the character's appearance when they were first created, so they wake up dressed after podding. Without that, someone who had a complete outfit from the vanity store would wake up nude.
